inIT scientists visit Belgium

Network technologies are being tested in the CINI4.0 project

In August 2021, the project "CINI4.0: Convergent Network Architecture for Industry 4.0" was launched. Together with the partners KU Leuven and the University of Ghent from Belgium as well as Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, inIT is developing a reference system in the project that allows technologies such as TSN, OPC UA, SPE and others to be tested, evaluated and demonstrated individually and in combination.

Last October, a delegation of the Belgian partners came to Lemgo to test initial approaches in the SmartFactoryOWL. A few weeks ago, the Lemgo scientists accepted the invitation to a three-day workshop in neighboring Belgium. Oliver Konradi and project leader Dr. Lukasz Wisniewski represented inIT and worked together with their colleagues from Belgium on the integration and testing of TSN devices from different manufacturers. This was the first international project trip since the beginning of the pandemic.

"In addition to the project-related testing, we took a look at the labs at KU Leuven and the University of Ghent and got to know the day-to-day work there. We also planned the next steps in the project and discussed joint appearances at trade fairs and conferences," says Konradi, summarizing the meeting. Wisniewski also looks back positively on the workshop: "Particularly in project-related meetings, it is simply important to sit together at the same table and look each other in the eye. We achieved a lot in a short time at this face-to-face meeting and made progress. It's hard to achieve the same results online."
