PHARE project launch - research and industry work hand in hand

In February, the ZIM project PHARE (Prototype of a highly integrated skill-based embedded feeder) got off to a successful start: The Institute Industrial IT (inIT), together with its partner Afag Automation GmbH, addresses the advancing digitalization and automation of production and material feed systems in the manufacturing industry.

Employees of inIT and Afag Automation GmbH are pleased about the start of the PHARE project.

The demand for highly flexible and autonomous components for innovative material flow and feeding systems is constantly raising and manufacturers like Afag Automation GmbH are faced with new challenges to meet increasing customer demands in the future. This implies high demands on the components, such as flexibility, compact design, easy commissioning and operation as well as maintainability, which have to be fulfilled. Therefore, the goal of the PHARE project partners is to prototype a highly integrated and skill-based embedded vibratory feeder. This feeder is independent of central Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and can be securely identified, configured and maintained via mobile devices. The feeder itself is also used as an active part of an IIoT manufacturing system. Customers should benefit from compact, energy-efficient and easy-to-integrate systems. The project partners inIT and Afag Automation GmbH look back on many years of successful cooperation and build on jointly achieved results of the DEVEKOS research project.
