inIT Employee Andreas Schmelter Informed Company Representatives about I4.0-Safety Concepts

Industry 4.0 compact: In the course of a basic workshop inIT employee Andreas Schmelter informed about 20 company representatives about Industry 4.0-safety concepts. Numerous specialist talks as well as the practical demonstration of I4.0-applications made clear how I4.0 can be practically applied to the own company.

Andreas Schmelter presented various safety concepts.

Schmelter explains: “The field of cyber security is on the one hand a great challenge for many SMEs. On the other hand it is indispensable if you do not want to miss the boat.” With precise transfer and information proposals the Institute Industrial IT (inIT) wants to support SMEs.

Dr. Alexander Maier (Fraunhofer IOSB-INA) presented the case study “Condition Monitoring”, Florian Pethig (Fraunhofer IOSB-INA) explained the communication with architectures like OPC UA and Jens Otto (Fraunhofer IOSB-INA) demonstrated together with Andreas Schmelter the necessity of safety concepts. All in all participants gained extensive insights in the potentials and risks of the connected factory of the future.

The company representatives visited the research and demonstration factor SmartFactoryOWL on Thursday, 19. October 2017. The event was organized by Fraunhofer IOSB-INA and Kompetenzzentrum Digital in NRW.
