The annual “Communication in Automation” (KommA) conference is one of the leading forums for academia and industry in the German-speaking world. It brings together experts who deal with current technologies, methods, and challenges in industrial communication — from real-time Ethernet, 5G/6G, and IoT technologies to artificial intelligence, automation engineering, IT security, and networked embedded real-time systems.
Keynote speeches, technical presentations, and networking
A highlight of the program is the keynote address by Prof. Dr. Alexander Fay on the topic of “AI in the Engineering of Automated Systems.” This will be complemented by technical presentations on current research and application topics in industrial communication, as well as opportunities to network with experts from academia and industry.
The KommA will kick off with an evening event the night before, on November 9, 2026. The program includes a presentation on the MONOCAB mobility concept and a conference dinner at the Kesselhaus on the Kondor grounds in Lemgo.
Registration for KommA 2026 is now open; the deadline for registration is October 30, 2026. The program, tickets, and further information about the venue are available on the KommA website: https://www.jk-komma.de
Professional exchange in a lively atmosphere
KommA 2026 will be hosted in Lemgo by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Jasperneite on behalf of inIT. The event brings together experts from research, industry, and application who are engaged with current technologies, methods, and challenges in industrial communication.
“KommA is technically focused, closely aligned with current topics in industrial communication, and at the same time a place for genuine exchange. It is precisely this combination that sets it apart: a strong program, relevant insights, and an atmosphere where conversations between research and industrial practice quickly take shape,” says Benedikt Lücke, research associate at inIT and member of the organizing team.
