Markus Lange-Hegermann

Professor Markus Lange-Hegermann received his PhD in algorithmic differential algebra from RWTH Aachen University in 2014. While working in industry, he developed a passion for data science and machine learning. Since 2018, he has been Professor of Mathematics and Data Science at TH OWL. He is also a member of the board of the Institute Industrial IT (inIT). His research focuses on probabilistic machine learning and industrial applications. These include data-driven modeling and subsequent optimization, particularly for time-dependent processes. Another focus is dealing with uncertainties and incorporating physical prior knowledge described by differential equations.
He loves data science hackathons, an algebraic perspective on machine learning, and Bayes' theorem.
