itsowl-TP-KRISTINA: AI for quality improvement in spring steel production

01.09.2021 bis 31.08.2022

The production of cold-formed springs steel  is highly error-prone due to irregularities in the starting material and a complex manufacturing process. At the same time, steel springs have to meet the highest quality requirements. In the KRISTINA transfer pilot, AI methods for analyzing and optimizing the manufacturing process are being further developed and operationalized. The goal is to guarantee the quality of the springs independent of material changes by integrating machine learning and information fusion. This will both reduce uncertainties in sensor-acquired data and increase the explainability of the learned models.
