How is artificial intelligence (AI) changing the world of work, and what career opportunities and challenges does it create specifically for women? At SHEworks Lippe, women from across the region met with companies, advisory services and representatives from science and education at the Innovation Campus Lemgo. The inIT was once again part of the event.

Under the motto “Networking. Knowledge. Opportunities.”, SHEworks Lippe offered a diverse programme focusing on career orientation, re-entry into the workforce and professional development. Talks, workshops and the “Market of Opportunities” at the CENTRUM INDUSTRIAL IT (CIIT) invited participants to discover new perspectives, make connections and learn about specific support services.

One of this year’s main topics was AI and its impact on the world of work. The discussions focused both on how new technologies are changing job profiles and on how women can actively help shape these developments.

Encouraging women to pursue careers in technology

Natalia Moriz represented the inIT at the event. As research group leader of the Interconnected Automation Systems research group and contact person for TH OWL’s re-entry programme for female engineers and natural scientists, she combines research with many years of commitment to supporting women in technical professions.

At the inIT stand, this connection became very tangible: CinITo, the robot barista, served coffee and brought visitors into direct contact with applied research. This sparked conversations about technological developments as well as pathways into research, technology and returning to professional life.

Knowledge that supports career decisions

With workshops such as “AI for Work – Hands-on” and “Financial Power for Women”, SHEworks addressed topics with direct relevance to professional development: How can new technologies be used effectively? Which financial decisions matter for one’s professional future? And which services can support women returning to work or considering a career change?

For Natalia Moriz, this is precisely where the strength of the event lies:

“Technological change opens up new opportunities – but only if people also have access to them and feel confident enough to help shape them. SHEworks brings information, exchange and practical support together in one place. That is why I am very pleased that the inIT was once again part of this important event this year.”
