A student internship is a good opportunity to get a taste of working life while still at school, to gain initial practical experience and to get to know a typical working day. Lasse Eversmeier attends the 10th grade at Marianne Weber High School in Lemgo and completed his two-week mandatory internship at the Institute for Industrial Information Technology (inIT). Through a recommendation from acquaintances, he became aware of the research institute and since he has a high interest in computer science and technology, his interest was directly aroused. In order to perfectly cover his interests, his internship was individually divided into two phases: In the first week, Lasse mainly dealt with data analysis and the visualization of data in the form of dashboards. In the second week, the student was then able to gain experience with assistance systems in connection with augmented reality (AR). This was particularly exciting for him, as he can imagine working in the field of game development in the future. Lasse was directly involved in the development of specific use cases and was even allowed to attend the preview event at Hannover Messe 2020 and present the relevant technologies to interested parties. "That was definitely one of my highlights from my internship. You don't usually get insights like this so quickly," Lasse said enthusiastically.

But it wasn't just the exciting day that Lasse summed up positively. Overall, he also enjoyed his internship at inIT and found it personally beneficial. "I particularly liked the division into the two phases, in which I had the opportunity to immerse myself in different areas of work and gain initial practical experience. In particular, I find the opportunities at the Lemgo site with direct involvement in current technological topics, for example in the form of the SmartFactoryOWL, extremely exciting. I was definitely able to get a good overview of the research fields relevant at inIT. The internship made it clear to me how technical innovations can also be made tangible and experienced in a practical way," says Lasse, summing up his time at inIT.
