Year-end spurt in the AI marketplace

Consortium partners present first results

Around 50 project participants came together virtually for the consortium meeting.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is an important key to innovative and efficient product development. With the AI marketplace, a unique ecosystem is being created throughout Germany with which companies can tap into the potential in this area. The linchpin is the AI Marketplace platform of the same name, where providers, users and experts can develop and exchange solutions for AI. The vision is a marketplace that offers intelligent matching as well as a protected space for secure data exchange and data sovereignty. This is to be complemented by an app store for AI solutions as well as a range of comprehensive AI solutions thanks to a building block principle.

On November 11 and 12, the project consortium of 20 networks, companies and research institutions, including the Institute for Industrial Information Technology (inIT), met again virtually for the first time since the kickoff in February. In the first half of the two days, the partners each presented their results and progress to date from the joint cross-sectional projects. Among other things, inIT is working on the cross-cutting project Platform Services. "In our project, we are concerned with what we can offer subsequent users. This includes, for example, interaction mechanisms, i.e. how can users later interact and communicate with each other, as well as service maps or the data checkup," explains Alexander Dicks, a scientific assistant at inIT. In addition to this project, Dicks is also involved in the cross-sectional project AI in Product Development. His inIT colleague Mark Funk is mainly involved in the Platform Services and Platform Design project in the area of Security and Services.

In the second half of the two days, a small makeathon was held. Here, small groups worked on various services that could later be found on the AI marketplace. The Makeathon was primarily about developing new ideas in a playful way.

In addition, the new homepage was released on the two days and the new corporate design of the AI marketplace was presented.

At the end of the year, the first expansion stage of the AI marketplace is now to be completed. "Our progress in the project is very good and it is in line with the project plan. We're also fortunately not losing any business because of Covid-19. We have worked with virtual conferences and tools from the very beginning and are very well connected with each other at all times," says Dicks, pleased with the success so far.
