International interest in the Master’s programme in Information Technology in Lemgo

Webinar offers insights into the programme, research and campus life

Prof. Dr. Henning Trsek and Baboucarr Jarbo presented the Master’s programme in Information Technology directly from the SmartFactoryOWL research environment.

What is a Master’s programme in Information Technology in Germany really like? What role do research, practical relevance and industry partnerships play in everyday student life? And what makes the Innovation Campus Lemgo special as a place to study and conduct research?

Prof. Dr. Henning Trsek and Faculty Community Manager Baboucarr Jarbo provided answers to these questions during an international webinar via the MyGermanUniversity platform. Over 100 interested participants from a total of 32 countries took part in the online event.

The webinar was broadcast live from SmartFactoryOWL – and thus from the real-world research environment at the Innovation Campus Lemgo. The speakers were also accompanied by a humanoid robot from Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, which gave participants an additional insight into the on-site technological infrastructure.

Insights into study and research at the Innovation Campus Lemgo

The webinar focused on the international Master’s programme in Information Technology at the Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe. Its specialist areas, course content and the specific conditions of studying at the Innovation Campus Lemgo were presented.

To provide as practical a picture as possible of the study environment, selected research projects and demonstrators from the institutes of the Department of Computer Science and Automation (IAT) were also presented, including, for example, the Monocab. This gave participants an insight into the innovative research environment that students can experience first-hand during their studies.

In addition, the infrastructure of the Innovation Campus Lemgo was presented, where the university, research institutions and companies work closely together.

“It was important to us to show that studying here goes far beyond traditional lectures. With us, students experience an environment in which research, industry and international cooperation are closely intertwined,” explains Prof. Dr. Henning Trsek.

Personal insights into campus life

Alongside academic topics, student life in Lemgo also played an important role. Baboucarr Jarbo spoke about his work as Faculty Community Manager and provided insights into both internal and external activities that support international students throughout their studies.

The focus was particularly on support with settling in Germany, joint activities on and off campus, and the close-knit bonds within the international community.

Webinar still available online

The recording remains available via the platform even after the live event, offering further interested parties the opportunity to gain insights into study, research and campus life at TH OWL.
