The conference programme of the 3rd Industrial Radio Day, which took place in Bremen, with the thematic blocks "Research" and "Industry" as well as a keynote on the topic "Industrial Wireless - between research, marketing and practice" invited an intensive exchange on the current opportunities and challenges in the field of radio technologies. In addition, a laboratory tour of the Industrial Radio Lab Bremen was offered and another demonstrator of the Industrial Radio Lab Magdeburg was presented. The topic of 5G in particular was considered and discussed in detail from the two perspectives of industry and research. Research projects were presented in this context. Among them was the 5G SIMONE project, in which inIT is involved. The presentation by research assistant André Bröring about the MONOCAB was a particular talking point. André Bröring says: "It has been shown that the 5G SIMONE project is working on an exciting use case for the application of 5G technology. I was pleased that our project met with such great interest and enthusiasm from the other participants." Afterwards, experiences with radio projects in industrial applications were also reported.

Finally, an outlook was given on the coming 6G technology, which was discussed animatedly. On the one hand, the need to be actively involved in the research and development of the new standard at an early stage was seen. On the other hand, it was seen critically to already focus too much attention on a new upcoming standard for 6G, while many customers in the industry are still waiting for usable hardware to apply the current 5G standard. At this point, all participants of the 3rd Industrial Radio Day agreed: The lack of usable hardware that supports the latest 5G standards is currently an immense challenge.
