inIT and rt-solutions provide insights into the evolution of cybersecurity at “Transformation NOW! 2025”

Cybersecurity in the Age of AI

Together with its long-standing partner rt-solutions, inIT was represented at the “Transformation NOW! 2025” conference. Prof. Dr. Henning Trsek, Director of inIT, joined Dr. Daniel Mahrenholz, CTO of rt-solutions, to present current developments and challenges in the field of cybersecurity.

Platform for Digital Transformation

The “Transformation NOW!” conference, organized by NTT DATA Business Solutions, is regarded as an important platform for discussing future-oriented topics in the SAP and IT sectors. On November 19 and 20, 2025, several hundred experts and executives from businesses, consulting firms, and research institutions gathered at CINEDOM in Cologne to discuss the latest developments in digital transformation.

The focus was on topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital platforms, cloud strategies, and cybersecurity in complex corporate environments.

Focus on Cybersecurity in IT and OT

During a breakout session, Prof. Dr. Henning Trsek and Dr. Daniel Mahrenholz presented their talk titled “The Threat of Artificial Intelligence: What Do We Need to Know?”

The presentation highlighted current developments in the field of cybersecurity and demonstrated how new attack scenarios are emerging through AI—both in the form of AI-enabled attacks and attacks directed against AI-based systems themselves.

Particular attention was paid to the increasing integration of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT)—that is, industrial systems and production environments.

Cybersecurity as a Strategic Management Issue

The presentation made it clear that cybersecurity is no longer merely a technical challenge, but is increasingly becoming a strategic issue for companies.

“With the increasing use of AI, cybersecurity threat scenarios are also undergoing fundamental changes. Companies must adapt their security strategies accordingly—especially where corporate IT and industrial production systems are becoming increasingly interconnected,” said Prof. Dr. Henning Trsek.

The session highlighted how important the exchange between research and industry is for adapting security strategies to new threat scenarios.
