Field trip to HMI 2024: Immersion in the future of industry

Information technologies drive the industrial transformation

The Hanover Fair is the most important international platform for all technologies related to industrial transformation.

As part of an field trip, 25 international Master IT students visited with Professor Dr. Jürgen Jasperneite this year's Hanover Fair. On the one hand, the focus was on visiting various regional exhibitors, starting with the joint stand of the leading-edge technology cluster it's OWL, including research institutions such as the TH OWL's inIT and the Fraunhofer Institutes in the region.

Afterwards, companies from the IT (including AWS, Microsoft, NVIDIA) and OT (including Siemens, Phoenix Contact) sectors were visited. The increasing importance of information technologies in industry, particularly in the areas of digital twins, generative AI, 5G, cloud computing and IT security, became particularly clear.

Furthermore, the participants received an insight into the current developments in industrial robotics.

The excursion offered an excellent opportunity to experience and reflect on the dynamics and innovations of the industry. It was a valuable experience that offered new insights into information technologies and its impact on the industry.
