Invitation from Berlin: inIT presents Itself as CIIT-Research Partner at Federal Ministry

Once a year the Federal Ministry with its ministries spruce up: At open house day citizens are welcomed to take a look behind the scenes. German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) presents innovations that contribute to Germany’s competitiveness. The technology Region Ostwestfaoplen-Lippe strongly contributes to hightech-strategy of the Federal Government. For this reason the research and development center CENTRUM INDUSTRIAL IT (CIIT) is represented at the open house day.

Research activities from Lemgo will be presented in Berlin again: CIIT-office manager Sybille Hilker (r.) presents the assembly system of SmartFactoryOWL and the potentials of computer-based assistance systems in industrial production to Federal Research Minister Prof. Johanna Wanka (l.).

Approaches for the intelligent factory of the future are developed at CIIT. At this weekend the research institutes Fraunhofer-Application Center IOSB-INA and Institute Industrial IT (inIT) of the OWL University will present highlights from their research laboratories to a general public. The model plant of the SmartFactoryOWL shows a versatile assembly system that fulfills customers’ demands and individually mounts products. The assembly system operates resource efficiently and is intuitive to use for the human. At BMBF researchers from Lemgo present ideas for the factory of the future - visitors are welcome to try out these approaches.

Therewith approaches from CIIT are demanded in Berlin and represent the technology region OWL already for the second time this year. At this year’s Hanover Fair the researchers from Lemgo presented latest research findings and the assembly system of the SmartFactoryOWL at the booth of BMBF. Even Federal Research Minister Johanna Wanka convinced herself of the intelligent technical solutions. Virtual Post-its (the successor of the virtual data glasses) or Plug-and-Produce Technologies, researchers from Lemgo presented intelligent approaches in the field of automation technology. Wanka was impressed with the ideas and praised the CIIT as a part of the BMBF-leading edge cluster “it’s OWL” for its successful cooperation of industry and science under one roof.

The assembly system of Fraunhofer IOSB-INA and OWL University is supported by solutions and components of the industry partners of CIIT like Phoenix Contact, Weidmüller, OWITA, ISI Automation, MSF-Vathauer, Bosch Rexroth and Aventics.
