International Exchange Programs Planned: German-Japanese Cooperation at inIT

In the course of the BMWi-funded tendering of German-Japanese cooperations two representatives of industry and science visited Lemgo in July to talk about Industry 4.0 and future joint projects with researchers from Institute Industrial IT (inIT). An international research project and a scientific exchange about “Smart Factories” was planned. Also students shall benefit from this collaboration – with e.g. exchange semesters at Tokushima University or OWL University.

Dr. Lukasz Wisniewski, research group leader at inIT, and Dominik Henneke, research assistant, welcomed the guests from Japan – Dr. Teruaki Ito, Associate Professor at Tokushima University and Kiyotaka Kido, President of Kido Company in Lemgo and discussed about joint projects. Kido Company produces production plants for the Pharmaceutical Industry

The topic „Smart Factories“ is an important field of action for Japan. According to this, visitors were impressed of the SmartFactoryOWL in Lemgo, an initiative of the Fraunhofer IOSB-INA and OWL University. They informed themselves about possibilities in the field of Digitalization. Industry 4.0 will severely speed up the development of worldwide connected production locations. Networking, especially on the Asian Market, will play an important role.
