Untersuchung der funktionalen Sicherheit eines Bluetooth-basierten Sensor-Aktor-Systems unter Echtzeitbedingungen

Nov 2007

In many innovative applications of automation technology, there is an increasing desire to use wireless technologies even in harsh IP67 environments. The subject of the present investigations is the performance evaluation of the system behavior of an industrial sensor-actuator system based on Bluetooth in typical industrial environments. More specifically, this means considering the temporal behavior while ensuring functional transmission reliability, i.e., the interaction between fast response time and minimal packet loss. Typical industrial environments include in particular manufacturing cells with dimensions up to 15 m. Several SAI modules are operated both stationary and mobile, as required e.g. for applications with robots. In order to make statements about a possible system use in real-time critical applications, the above mentioned investigations are essential. Only when the exact system behavior has been recorded by meaningful measurements in real environments can the subsequent user be given a binding statement about the performance of the system. System developers can thus also be given decisive indications of possible evaluation options.
