EDWANCE: Eudaimonic Design of Work Assistance Systems

01.12.2026 bis 31.05.2029

Existing design approaches for industrial assistance systems primarily address utilitarian aspects such as ergonomics, usability, and functionality, while increasingly also considering ethical requirements for AI-based systems. Approaches aimed at promoting well-being and eudaimonia have so far neither been systematically transferred to the context of industrial work nor operationalized in existing workplace assistance systems. In particular, there is a lack of empirically grounded approaches for translating abstract eudaimonic factors into concrete design principles and system features. EDWANCE addresses this research gap by developing and empirically validating corresponding design principles.
