The core element of the 4th industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) is a long-rang modularization and changeability of batch-size 1 production systems. Thereby, it should be possible, that production systems could be adjusted quickly to the different products. Furthermore, individual products should be fully automatically produced. One central challenge consists of the efficiently parameterization and optimization of the production systems after their reconstruction to achieve the required target functions like resource consumption (e.g. energy), machine cycle time/throughput (produced unit per hour) and quality (surface roughness). In this project "Uni PrOpA", a solution for automatically optimization of such parameters will be developed, which addresses the challenge in manufacturing industry.

In a modular, flexible production process, the physical features of the products change accordingly to each new product variation. Therefore, the target functions of optimization change accordingly. To achieve an optimized production process, such problems should be addressed and solved in this project.
