AnyPLACE: Adaptable Platform for Active Services Exchange

01.01.2015 bis 01.01.2018

Overall project goal

The aim of the AnyPLACE project is to develop a modular, secure and flexible smart metering platform with management and control functionalities and additionally to support an active exchange of services between smart grid stakeholders, such as end-users, equipment manufacturers and service providers (current and new market representatives, electricity network operators and ICT providers). The solution proposed in AnyPLACE will establish the necessary set of functionalities and modules in a cost effective manner to obtain a comprehensive smart metering platform (for electricity, water, gas, heating and cooling). It will be suitable to a wide variety of use-cases for which custom configurations are possible and desirable. This platform will allow to interconnect different domains, such as households, telecommunications, energy markets and networks, thus providing a gateway for services exchange and allow to establish new business models.

Challenges

While developing the AnyPLACE solution a special emphasis will be put on the possibility of seamless integration of the proposed solution in the currently existing infrastructure at houses and other affected facilities of the Smart Grid (retrofitting). One of the biggest challenges for the project is the development of a cost effective smart metering platform that will cost lower than 100€/solution, considering large scale implementation.

Results

The outcome of the project will be a near-market smart metering platform prototype that is applicable in the selected EU Member States in terms of rules and regulation as well as typically available infrastructure and technology. Results which are obtained in the project will be additionally used for regulatory recommendations and standardization activities in the area of energy, cybersecurity, data privacy and telecommunications. This will help to speed up the process of implementing and spreading out of the smart metering technology across the EU Member States.
