Consortium meeting: TACNET4.0: - 5G tactile Internet for industrial production, robotics and digitisation

Dr. Lukasz Wisniewski and Arne Neumann did welcome the partners of the German research project TACNET4.0 for a consortium meeting in the SmartFactoryOWL. 25 representatives of the participating major enterprises, small and medium companies and research institutes followed the invitation come to Lemgo.

In the FIND and TACNET4.0 projects, inIT is researching the uniform management of industrial 5G and Internet technologies

TACNET4.0 is an acronym referring to the tactile Internet for Industrie 4.0. The overal goal of the project TACNET4.0 is the development of a highly reliable and real-time industrial 5G networking for production, robotics and digitalization of the industry. In order to achieve this goal,  5G concepts will be extended by industry-specific approaches, and cross-network adaptation mechanisms and open interfaces between industrial and mobile radio systems will be developed. At inIT, the research group of Prof. Jürgen Jasperneite contributes to the topic of network control and integration as well as to management of the quality of service from the perspective of the industrial application.

During the meeting in Lemgo, the work about the overall architecure of the industrial 5G system was finalized. The meeting also emphasized the progress planning in the fields of integration scenarios between mobile and industrial networks and the definition of test beds to demonstrate and evaluate the project results. In this context the SmartFactoryOWL will gain importance again becoming the environment of a 5G-connected production.
