Annual colloquium on November 10 at the Innovation Campus Lemgo

KommA 2026: Call for papers now open!

For many years, the annual colloquium “Communication in Automation” (KommA) has been one of the most important meeting places for experts from academia and industry in the field of industrial communication. The focus is on current issues and developments relating to such systems. Traditionally, the venue alternates between Lemgo and Magdeburg. In 2026, the 17th annual colloquium will once again be hosted at the Innovation Campus Lemgo.

Call for Papers – Abstracts to be submitted by March 16, 2026

KommA offers space for a wide range of topics from the field of industrial communication. Submissions can include contributions on:

  • Modern communication technologies (field buses, real-time Ethernet, 5G/6G, IoT)
  • AI methods throughout the entire life cycle of automated systems
  • Networked embedded real-time systems
  • Applications in manufacturing, logistics, building, or process automation

Abstracts can be submitted until March 16, 2026.

Keynote: Prof. Dr. Alexander Fay on AI in engineering

Prof. Dr. Alexander Fay has been secured as the keynote speaker. He holds the Chair of Automation Technology at Ruhr University Bochum. In his presentation entitled “AI in the Engineering of Automated Systems,” he explores how artificial intelligence is changing the design, diagnosis, and maintenance of complex automation systems and what potential this holds for industrial practice.

KommA as an exchange platform for science and industry

Conference chairs Prof. Dr. Jürgen Jasperneite and Prof. Dr. Lisa Underberg see KommA as a platform for exchange that thrives on openness, dialogue, and professional diversity. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Jasperneite emphasizes the importance of KommA as a forum where scientific findings and industrial practice come together:

“Industrial communication is the nervous system of every automated technical system. New technologies offer exciting potential for the further development of this field. I look forward to seeing everyone who will actively participate in shaping KommA 2026.”
