The IAT Department provides information on training and study opportunities at Phoenix Contact

Strong interest in engineering programs at the 2026 Career Information Days

At Phoenix Contact’s career information days, more than 1,500 high school students learned about apprenticeship and degree programs. For two days, the Phoenix Contact Training Center was dedicated entirely to technical and digital career prospects.

The Department of Information Technology and Automation (IAT) at the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences (TH OWL) was represented with its own booth on both days. On the first day of the event, Prof. Dr. Henning Trsek was available to answer questions about the degree programs and the practical connection between research and Phoenix Contact, for example in the dual study program or the international bachelor’s program “General Engineering.”

On the second day, Prof. Dr. Rainer Rasche, Dean of the department, and Nico Baumgart (inIT) represented the IAT. They presented the degree programs, which range from computer science and electrical engineering to mechanical engineering, mechatronics, production engineering, industrial engineering, and digital engineering.

There was particularly strong interest in artificial intelligence, its concrete applications in industry and society, as well as the associated opportunities and challenges.

The career information days demonstrate once again how important direct exchange between the university, industry, and prospective students is. A heartfelt thank you goes to Phoenix Contact for the organization and the long-standing collaboration.
