On March 11, 2026, the LWL Fair for Inclusive Enterprises took place at the Dortmund Exhibition Center. Under the theme “Inclusion Unfolds,” approximately 120 inclusive enterprises from Westphalia-Lippe and the neighboring Rhineland presented their work. As part of the seminar program, inIT and its project partners presented the AMICO research project.
Presentation on Digital Tools for Everyday Work
Mario Heinz-Jakobs, a research associate in the Human-Technology Interaction research group headed by Prof. Dr. mult. Carsten Röcker, gave a presentation together with Anja Große-Coosmann (Wertkreis Gütersloh) and Frank Schrapper (LWL) titled: “AMICO: Digital Assistance Systems, as Individual as Your Participation in the Workforce.”
The presentation addressed the question of how digital assistance systems can support people with varying abilities in their daily work—for example, through clear step-by-step instructions, adaptive assistance, or individually tailored workflows.
Demonstrator brings the assistance system to life
In addition to the presentation, the project team showcased a demonstrator that illustrates the practical application of a digital assistance system. Interested visitors were able to see firsthand how technical support can facilitate work processes and assist employees with specific tasks.
The demonstrator was provided by Bottroper Werkstätten. The trade show team—Peter Przestrzelski and Andreas Lingenau (Bottroper Werkstätten gGmbH), Fabian Zodrow and Anja Große-Coosmann, as well as Mario Heinz-Jakobs—guided visitors and was available to answer questions and engage in discussions.
The demonstration also offered trade show guests the opportunity to discuss specific application scenarios and share their own practical experiences.
“Digital assistance systems can help design workplaces in such a way that people with varying abilities can perform their tasks independently. The LWL Fair provided a good platform for exchanging ideas with inclusive companies and experts from the field,” emphasizes Prof. Dr. mult. Carsten Röcker.
