Omar Gamal

Mr. Gamal has been a Research Associate in Prof. Büker’s Intelligent Systems Research Group at the Institute for Industrial Information Technology (inIT) since May 2024. Within the enableATO project, he explores innovative approaches with project partners to automate a gyro-stabilized monorail vehicle (MONOCAB), combining state-of-the-art sensor technologies with machine learning.

Over the past six years, Mr. Gamal has developed expertise in artificial intelligence, data science, and managing research projects through his work on national and international initiatives. He has authored multiple publications advancing the application of artificial intelligence in industrial automation, autonomous vehicles, and robotics. In parallel to his professional roles, he is advancing his doctoral studies in Mechatronics at the University of Siegen, specializing in intelligent control of bar and wire hot rolling processes.

  • Since May 2024: Mr. Gamal has been a Research Associate at Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe, contributing to the enableATO project with a focus on automating the MONOCAB vehicle through the integration of state-of-the-art sensor technologies and machine learning
  • 2020–2023: Project Coordinator at the University of Siegen, managing national and international research projects.
  • 2017–2020: Research Associate at the University of Siegen, focusing on modeling and control of the bar and wire hot rolling process within the PIREF project.
  • Since 2018: Pursuing a PhD in Mechatronics at the University of Siegen, Germany, specializing in intelligent control of bar and wire hot rolling processes.
  • 2015: Master of Science in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Siegen, Germany.
  • 2008–2012: Research Assistant at the Higher Technological Institute in Egypt, with responsibilities in teaching and supervising undergraduate courses.
  • 2008: Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering from the Higher Technological Institute, Egypt.
