Kiran Bhaskar Sajikumar

I hold a master's degree in commercial vehicle engineering from RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, specializing in autonomous driving functions, driver assistance systems, machine learning, and simulation-based validation. I am particularly interested in research questions relating to the simulation and validation of automated driving functions—an area I would like to explore further as part of a possible doctorate.
My practical experience includes a scientific internship at Mercedes-Benz AG in Stuttgart, where I was involved in system development for autonomous driving. My work involved evaluating and analyzing sensor data (radar, lidar, camera, ultrasound) as well as aspects of driving comfort and safety perception in highly automated driving (level 3).
In addition, I completed both my master's thesis and a subsequent internship in the field of “safety of automated driving” at AVL Software and Functions GmbH (Regensburg). There, I developed a closed-loop simulation framework with CARLA and OSI, modeled critical driving scenarios, integrated sensor models, and worked intensively with standards such as SOTIF (ISO 21448), ISO 26262, and ISO/PAS 8800.
