Lukasz Wisniewski appointed professor

The inIT Board welcomes our old and new colleague Prof. Dr. Lukasz Wisniewski. He represents the research area "Technologies of Digital Transformation".

Lukasz Wisniewski addresses the challenges of digital transformation in industry in research and teaching. "For me, research also means cooperation with industry and other researchers, both nationally and internationally. I think it's incredibly important to stay in a continuous dialog. On the one hand, to understand what challenges industry is facing. On the other hand, to learn about the latest methods and processes through exchanges in the research environment, which may also eliminate existing challenges faced by companies," says Wisniewski.

A native of Silesia, Wisniewski studied from 2002 to 2007 at the Technical University in Opole, Poland, in the field of computer engineering. From 2012 to 2016, he earned his doctorate at Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg. At TH OWL, Wisniewski was initially employed as a research assistant from 2008. Since 2014, he has been a research group leader in the Computer Networks research group and, since 2019, a board member at inIT. For him, being employed at TH OWL and involved in inIT is a great way to combine applied research and practice.

"Research means a lot to me and it gives me great pleasure to learn about new topics and technologies. Of course, I will strongly embed the latest research findings into teaching to give students the opportunity to work with the newest and most relevant concepts, methods and technologies." Lukasz Wisniewski is involved in the IEEE global research community, particularly the Industrial Electronics Society (IES), and helps organize notable conferences and other formats for research dialogue. He is currently working with 23 partners from across Europe on a Horizon Europe project to optimize indoor air quality using digital twins, AI algorithms, and an interoperable data platform.
