The annual colloquium "Communication in Automation (KommA)" has established itself as a forum in the German-speaking world. A group of experts from science and industry regularly discusses technical and scientific issues relating to industrial communication. It is organized by the two research institutes Institute for Industrial Information Technology (inIT) of the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Institute for Automation and Communication e.V. Magdeburg (ifak). The next annual colloquium will take place on November 3, 2022 at the Innovation Campus Lemgo. Papers can still be submitted until March 31, 2022.
Industrial communication has its roots in Germany and has been the backbone of every decentralized automation system for more than 20 years. Under the heading Industry 4.0, intelligent networking will continue to play a very important role in the future. However, the use of information technologies, which were often designed against a background other than use in the industrial environment, also creates new challenges. With a view to typical networking for Industry 4.0, the importance of reliable and secure communication systems is increasing and, at the same time, the heterogeneity of the systems.
The two research institutes ifak e.V. in Magdeburg and the Institute for Institute Industrial IT (inIT) of the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts dedicate the annual specialist colloquium "Communication in Automation (KommA)" to this important topic. It takes place alternately in Magdeburg and Lemgo and is a forum for science and industry in the German-speaking region for all technical-scientific issues relating to industrial communication. The expert committee on real-time systems of the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI) and the Informationstechnische Gesellschaft im VDE (ITG) support the annual colloquium scientifically and ideally. Contributions from the broad application field of industrial communication are welcome as well as technology and methodologically oriented papers.
